₹50 Lakh Per Year in Month: ₹4,16,667 Gross, ₹2,74,799 In Hand

Your recurring monthly credit, your annual net cash, and what changes if variable pay is not paid in full.

Corrected 29 August 2026. An earlier version of this page excluded target variable pay from both received cash and taxable salary, which understated income tax. Figures are recalculated under model PS-A3. What changed →

Short answer: ₹50 lakh a year is ₹4,16,667 a month before anything is deducted. After employer costs, provident fund and tax, a ₹50 lakh package pays a recurring monthly credit of ₹2,74,799. Including the ₹5,00,000 target variable paid in full, annual net cash is ₹37,97,585 — 76.0% of CTC.

Tax Year 2026-27 · model PS-A3 · 40% basic · 10% target variable, primary scenario assumes 100% of it is paid · provident fund on the capped ₹15,000 wage basis · professional tax excluded because it varies by state · employer NPS not modelled. Your employer’s structure will differ.

Where the other 24.0% goes

Income tax takes ₹10,63,061 a year. Your own provident fund takes ₹21,600. Employer PF, the gratuity provision and target variable pay account for ₹6,17,754 that is either an employer cost or paid separately.

Note the asymmetry: the employer PF portion is still ₹21,600 on the capped basis — 0.4% of the package. At this level compensation is usually negotiable in ways it was not earlier.

All paid (primary)₹5,00,000₹37.98 L₹10.63 L76.0%

Unpaid target variable is not a deduction and not money permanently lost. It is pay that was targeted and not earned in that year, and it is not taxed.

Provident fund basis

The figures above use the capped ₹15,000 wage basis, where employee and employer each contribute ₹21,600 a year. If your employer contributes on full basic wages instead, the combined contribution is ₹4,80,000 a year and annual net cash becomes ₹34,28,926. Both bases are permitted — check your payslip.

Frequently asked questions

What is the in-hand salary for 50 LPA?

Your recurring monthly credit is about ₹2,74,799. Over a full year, assuming all of the ₹5,00,000 target variable is paid, annual net cash is ₹37,97,585 — 76.0% of CTC. Professional tax is excluded because it varies by state.

How much income tax is payable on a 50 LPA package?

About ₹10,63,061 for Tax Year 2026-27, on taxable salary of ₹48,07,246 after the ₹75,000 standard deduction under section 19(1). If none of the target variable is paid, tax is ₹9,07,061 instead, because unpaid variable pay is not taxed.

What happens if my variable pay is not paid in full at 50 LPA?

Annual net cash falls from ₹37,97,585 at full payout to ₹34,53,585 at nil payout, and tax falls from ₹10,63,061 to ₹9,07,061. Your recurring monthly credit of ₹2,74,799 is unaffected, because variable pay is normally paid separately.

Why is 50 LPA divided by twelve not my monthly salary?

CTC includes employer costs that never enter your account: employer provident fund of ₹21,600 a year and a gratuity provision of ₹96,154. Target variable pay of ₹5,00,000 is also normally paid separately rather than monthly.
