If you have a daughter under 10, SSY should be the first thing you look at. At 8.2% with EEE tax benefits, it is unmatched. Start investing ₹1.5 lakh per year when she is born, and by age 21, the account holds approximately ₹73.65 lakh — every rupee tax-free. The extra 6 years of compounding after deposits stop add massively to the final figure.
You can open this account at any post office or authorized bank with the girl's birth certificate, parent's ID proof, address proof, and two photos. The process takes about 30 minutes. Maximum 2 accounts per family (one per daughter).
